All candidates for a real estate salesperson license must attend and successfully complete New York State approved 75 Hoursalesperson qualifying licensing class and pass a school exam prior to licensure. Proof of satisfactory completion of this course must be furnished to the Department of State by school certification on the salesperson license application by an original certificate with a raised school seal.

Requirements for Salesperson licensure are:

* minimum age of 18
* demonstrate fair knowledge of the English language
* complete a New York DOS approved 75 hour qualifying course
* pass the Real Estate  qualifying course exam
* pass the New York DOS licensing exam
* obtain broker sponsorship
* be in one of four citizenship categories:
1. citizenship status
2. permanent residency
3. have a work authorization card obtained from the Immigration and Naturalization Service
4. have a work permit obtained from your sponsoring employer
